In this first part I will simply install Lineage OS, and then attempt to build my own kernel without modifications.
Mostly I’ll simply be following the documentation, so I will only describes some notes on deviations or weird warnings. -
I’ve been using a motorola G4 plus for over a year after being disappointed with the direction of ubuntu phone. I picked the G4 because it was a cheap but capable phone that came with almost completely stock adroid, no bloatware, and the promise of updates.
But now, its time to upgrade some more to a custom ROM. -
Yesterday cloudflare announced their new privacy-first consumer DNS service. Announcing it on April fools day was a bit suspicious but it made me re-evaluate my own home dns situation.

I added some functionality to my image minify script so that it now also generates resized images that are cropped to fit in titles or index pages. This means the image selected will be more likely to match correctly.

I made several tweaks to the site. Some improvements and some made everything worse.

I’ve finished the basic layout of the blog and it is now ready for accepting posts. I initially set several goals for it:
- Cheap/Free hosting
- https
- Cyberpunk vibe
- Scale across devices
- Fast loading
Each of these had some challenges which I’ll get into in the following sections.

This is the very first blog post I’m making on this github.io page. I plan to use this at first to organize my study materials that I might still find useful after exams. And after that maybe as a regular place to blog about random things.
